Here's this week's glimpse into what's happening in and out of our classrooms in the day school! These feature lessons, activities, centers, and saunters from a different classroom each week.
Today's feature: Chickadee’s Postcard Collection
The Chickadee Class is collecting postcards this school year from around the nation and world! Parents from the classroom have reached out to family and friends across the world asking them to send a postcard from where they live with information about the weather, local foods, and activities that are enjoyed in the place from which they’re mailing. We read the postcards in class and talk about similarities and differences between Missoula, Montana and other places. So far, we have received postcards from 21 states, Ireland, Australia, Switzerland, Canada, Malaysia, and Wales! We also have the opportunity to be pen-pals with a class in France!
The postcard collection program is helping us build community skills, an awareness and an appreciation for our own and other’s cultures, while providing us with an opportunity to learn about and discuss our own personal preferences and interests!
Come check out all the postcards we have received- they are hanging on the green wall by the office!
