Here's this week's glimpse into what's happening in and out of our classrooms here in the day school! These feature lessons, activities, centers, and saunters from a different classroom each week.

Today's feature: Steller’s Jays Explore Culture with Tradition and Ritual

This month in Steller’s Jays, we are focusing on our Place Based theme of Culture- Traditions and Rituals. We will build, as a community, our own classroom rituals and traditions that will continue throughout the school year. One of these traditions is our Thankful Stick. Every day at lunchtime, we sit together and pass around our Thankful Stick. Each person has the opportunity to say what they are thankful for. This builds a loving Steller’s Jay culture, full of gratitude and appreciation.

We are also celebrating and learning about the various cultures represented in our Steller’s Jay community. Our Dramatic Play center is a Cultural Home currently representing five different cultures. Our families have shared with us books, significant items, and even spent time with us creating. We are inviting community members into our classroom to read stories, speak in different languages, and share with us their family culture. We are feeling thankful for our community and learning about having appreciation in our hearts.
