Have you asked a journeyer what an ecosystem is?
Welcome Ian Curtis! We are so glad you have joined our classroom and we are looking forward to a fun-filled and exciting year!
Have you asked a Journeyer what an “ecosystem” is? I bet they can tell you with enthusiastic flair! The past few weeks we have been exploring the magic of ecosystems and have been learning about the ways organisms are interconnected. This unit started off with a bang when several parents and apprentices showed up for our skit about energy. We loved teaching everyone that all energy on Planet Earth comes from the sun, but only green plants can use it directly. This coming week we will be dissecting owl pellets and investigating the macro-invertebrates of Rattlesnake Creek. We’d like to send a huge thank you to Target Range School for lending us the supplies!
It is also poetry time in the Journeyer classroom! We’ve been learning how to transform our creative thoughts into detailed expressions and we have produced some impressive poems. We’re excited for Jeremy Smith, a notable local author, to visit our classroom on Friday, October 7th. We can’t wait to learn from a local poetry guru!
Thank you to all the parents who have put together service learning projects. We are excited to announce that our first project will be this Tuesday, October 11th. We will be picking plums at the PEAS Farm and preparing them for the Missoula Food Bank. It feels good to help our community!
